Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise..

It was 6:40 AM and as my train stopped at New York City's Penn Station. Its a bright monday morning. As I came out of the subway, I realized, its rightly said that the New York city never sleeps. I have been up in the city till wee hours of the morning, hanging out with my friends at any of the dance clubs. However, that was still early morning. I asked myself yet again, is there a time when the streets of New York City are deserted, empty, desolated? I think not.

While I made my way out to the street, the crowd of people running past me rushing to there respective offices / subways / stations.

I am not a morning person at all. I can stay up till late and I like waking up late too. I am amazed how people get up so early and get ready to reach their offices in time. This inspires me to wake up early too. Sure thing, my inspiration also dies down within days.

I believe its all in the habits of the person. My roommate wakes up early morning everyday. She would pack her lunch too, before going to work. While I work till late night, and wake up a little late too.

This reminds me of the old saying, "Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." Does this mean I will never be healthy, wealthy or wise?

When is the right time?

I have asked this to myself, several times: Is this what I really wanna do? I have been in this industry for 4 years, not too long a time, but at times I just feel the need to move on. I feel I just need to move away from my routine, take a break, may be study something. Well, I know these thoughts are product of a tired, bored mind, when one thinks of doing something different.

There are times, when I tell myself, "I will do this, some day". While having a conversation with one of my friends, I was hit by this reality. He asked me, "Will that someday ever come?". That kept me thinking. My mind was racing through one thousand thoughts per minute. I told him, there is a time for everything, and everything happens in its own time. But, how would you know that the time has arrived? How would you know that the time has gone and you didnt do anything because you were waiting for the right time?

After all these back and forth discussions with myself, I came to a conclusion: The time is NOW.

Veniero's

It so happened, that I was in New York with a couple of friends. After we finished our dinner, at a indo-chinese restraunt, we were looking for a nice place for dessert. Thats when, someone in the gang suggested we go to Veniero's. I didnt really like the idea. I was too tired to walk and going all the way downtown wasnt really a very good feeling.

It was about 10:45 PM, and we were too tired (read full) to walk all the way, so we took a cab. The yellow cabs are really good in New York. The cabbies know exactly where you have to go and where you need to be dropped. Finally, we reached there for a nice dessert treat.

I guess, thats when my love affair with Veniero's started as I entered this small restraunt without any expectations. As I looked around, all I could see was, different types of decorated cakes and pastries, cookies and cannoli's, and variety of other sweet little things.

While we waited to be seated, we were told we will have to wait for atleast half an hour. It was 11:15 PM by this time and it was still a half an hour wait. I was puzzled. Is this that good a place? I looked around to see what I could order, sure enough, I realised, it is a nice little place to have a quiet dessert.

I dont exactly remember what I ordered that day, however, it became a routine. That was 5 months ago and since then, I go there every weekend, and try out different varieties of cakes and specialities. I think, by now, I have taken almost all my friends there. The staff and the lady at the counter now recognizes me by face now and expects to see me every weekend.

Sure thing, the dessert tastes yummy, and obviously, it is very very rich and ahem! a reason why I am gaining a lot of weight.

However, I am sure, after I work all week, I can excuse myself and treat myself out to the nice dessert.
