It so happened, that I was in New York with a couple of friends. After we finished our dinner, at a indo-chinese restraunt, we were looking for a nice place for dessert. Thats when, someone in the gang suggested we go to Veniero's. I didnt really like the idea. I was too tired to walk and going all the way downtown wasnt really a very good feeling.
It was about 10:45 PM, and we were too tired (read full) to walk all the way, so we took a cab. The yellow cabs are really good in New York. The cabbies know exactly where you have to go and where you need to be dropped. Finally, we reached there for a nice dessert treat.
I guess, thats when my love affair with Veniero's started as I entered this small restraunt without any expectations. As I looked around, all I could see was, different types of decorated cakes and pastries, cookies and cannoli's, and variety of other sweet little things.
While we waited to be seated, we were told we will have to wait for atleast half an hour. It was 11:15 PM by this time and it was still a half an hour wait. I was puzzled. Is this that good a place? I looked around to see what I could order, sure enough, I realised, it is a nice little place to have a quiet dessert.
I dont exactly remember what I ordered that day, however, it became a routine. That was 5 months ago and since then, I go there every weekend, and try out different varieties of cakes and specialities. I think, by now, I have taken almost all my friends there. The staff and the lady at the counter now recognizes me by face now and expects to see me every weekend.
Sure thing, the dessert tastes yummy, and obviously, it is very very rich and ahem! a reason why I am gaining a lot of weight.
However, I am sure, after I work all week, I can excuse myself and treat myself out to the nice dessert.

I agree with every word. The hostess of the place told her; don't love the place so much otherwise you will end up working like her at Veniero's. :P
